As part of our ‘Toys’ topic, we have been doing a very exciting DT project. We have been designing and making our own animal hand puppets! We started off by Mrs O’Hara coming to visit us to explain to us about sewing and to show us how we would stitch the felt together. We then had to think about what we wanted to make and we drew our design. We had to label our design with what each part was and what we would need to make it.
We were very excited to get sewing! We had to be very patient and wait for our turn. We started off by sewing on the eyes, most of us used buttons for the eyes! Most of us put a mouth, a nose and ears on too. Some of us even put a tail on! After we had done the front of our puppets, we stitched the two pieces of felt together. We were so excited when we had finished our puppets!!
The final thing we had to do was evaluate it. We thought carefully about if we stuck to our design and we said if we had made any changes and we thought about what we do differently if we made the puppet again.
