3SD have been learning about the Ancient Egyptian process of mummification by mummifying a tomato! After a careful incision was made into the tomato the seeds, which represented internal organs, were removed. However one seed was replaced to act as the heart. A mix of salt and baking soda was used as natron. The children are making careful observations to monitor the drying out process over the next few weeks.
