- Time openers they could use to order the story (e.g. First, Next)
- Conjunctions they could use to extend their sentences (e.g. because, however)
- Vocabulary linked to the topic (e.g. stable, shepherds)
- Adjectives they could use for description (e.g. long, dusty road)
