Nocturnal animals

We have been learning about nocturnal animals this week and as part of this we were very lucky to have a visit from Jayne and Holly from Clent Hills vets and they brought a hedgehog and bat with them!

Jayne had a written a lovely poem to introduce us to Barnaby the hedgehog and then Holly showed him to us. We learned lots of information about hedgehogs. Did you know you can buy tins of hedgehog food from the pet shop?!

Holly was able to touch Barnaby as his spikes aren’t very sharp because he is very young. She has to look after him because he is too small to hibernate so she has to feed him so he’s big and strong for Spring.

Then Jayne showed us a bat who had a poorly wing. We looked at it under the visualiser because it was very small! Then Jayne fed it some special food to help it get better.

We really enjoyed the session and learned so much information about hedgehogs and bats as well as other nocturnal animals.

Thank you very much to Jayne and Holly for taking the time to visit us!
